A Legacy of Leadership: Honoring Cora on International Women’s Day

In honor of International Women’s Day, we proudly acknowledge Cora Salvador, as a true pioneer whose exceptional contributions have significantly shaped the finance and technology sectors. As we celebrate the achievements of extraordinary women leaders, Cora stands as an inspiring figure whose journey is filled with resilience, dedication, and a passion for empowering others.

Cora imparts wisdom through quotes and insights that reflect her life philosophy. “Early bird gets the worm,” “Cleanliness is next to godliness,” and the advice to HALT (avoid being Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired) are guiding principles she lives by. Her equation for success—Simple + Manageable + Accountable + Responsible + Truthful equals Respect, Integrity, Character, Honesty—is a testament to her commitment to ethical leadership.

Professional Achievements

A trailblazer in the finance and technology sectors, Cora is currently semi-retired, serving as the part-time Chief Financial Officer of Pure Technology Inc. in Canada. Moreover, she holds a position on the Board of Directors at Teralight Gateway Holdings Inc., both of which are technology companies with global business operations in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. Before her retirement, she played pivotal roles at IBM Canada Ltd. and Ericsson Communications Inc. in Toronto, Ontario, where she worked as a Manager in Accounting and Human Resources.

Challenges Overcome

Cora faced numerous challenges throughout her career, overcoming them with continuous education and formal training in accounting, personnel administration, taxation, and information technology. Her commitment to professional growth led her to attend the Executive Masters in Business Administration program at Queens University in 1997-1999. She also obtained a diploma in personnel management from the Canadian School of Management in 1985. Notably, her involvement with Soroptimist International of the Americas showcases her dedication to personal development and community engagement.

Impact on the Industry

Having actively participated in introducing wireless technology during her tenure at Ericsson Communications Inc., Cora possesses first-hand knowledge of groundbreaking advancements such as cell phones. Her volunteer work at the Soroptimist Foundation contributed to the growth of the Endowment Fund, and she advocated for the use of social media to increase donations from club members.

Mentorship and Advocacy

Cora believes in sharing knowledge and wealth to uplift disadvantaged women and girls. Her advocacy extends to providing financial support for education, especially for those facing domestic violence. By educating the public to prevent domestic violence, she aims to minimize the challenges faced by victims and create a more supportive environment.

Future Goals

Looking ahead, Cora aspires to continue supporting associations that enhance the lives of women and girls. Although unable to actively participate now, she remains committed to supporting the Soroptimist through financial contributions, ensuring that her legacy of empowerment endures.

Cora’s remarkable journey exemplifies resilience, dedication, and a commitment to uplifting others. On this International Women’s Day, we salute her accomplishments and contributions, recognizing her as a beacon of inspiration for women in finance and technology.
